AO CANstruction 2015 I Rising Above Hunger

Architects Orange is excited to announce its participation in this year’s Canstruction, a unique charity event focused on hunger relief. We designed and built a large scale structure entirely out of canned food, which will be on display in South Coast Plaza during the month of September to coincide with the Festival of Children. At the close of the exhibition, all of the canned food will be donated to the Orange County Food Bank for distribution to shelters, soup kitchens and other emergency feeding programs. Canstruction events have been held in over 150 cities worldwide and have helped raise over 25 million pounds of food since 1992.

Our concept this year is “Rising Above Orange County against Hunger.” The OC Great Park Balloon is one of the Orange County’s iconic symbols, and AO’s concept recalls this iconic Orange County attraction to promote rising above hunger as a regional effort.
